Sunset Speedway
General Racing Rules

  1. All Restarts will be single file.
  2. One (1) complete restart per event / single file start after restart.
  3. All starts will be started at turn #4 line or cone.
  4. Front row sets pace for starts / after two (2) false starts both cars will got to the rear of the field.
  5. NO racing to yellow flag / line up will rever to lap before.
  6. Any car(s) causing or considered involved in causing a yellow flag will go to the rear of field.
  7. All caras must stop as quickly as possible when the red flag is displayed.
  8. NO speeding in pit area at any time / fine or suspension may be levied.
  9. Any driver causing excesive DUST in infield will be BLACK-FLAGGED / FINED.
  10. Stay in single file order under yellow flag / NO passing on restart until you are past turn #4 cone / remain behind the car in front of you until past turn #4 cone / any passing of car(s) before turn #4 cone will result in being set back 2 positions for every 1 gained at that time or at end of event.
  11. If a yellow / checkered flag is used to end an event you will race back to finish line to determine finishing order.
  12. Any car using infield area to gain positions other than to avoid an accident / spin will be moved back during race or set back at end of race.
  13. Loss of muffler will be automatic disqualification of that event.
  14. Exceeding the noise decibel limit may result in fine or disqualification. (95dB at 100ft).
  15. Car may reenter race under green ONLY when the race official gives the clearance to do so.
  16. ALL cars must participate in wheel packing when called to do so.
  17. NO fighting / unsportsman-like conduct / verbal abuse, or unprofessional displays will be tolerated. Fines and/or suspension will be levied if necessary to any situation.
  18. NO stopping on tract or causing delays to racing program.
  19. ANY abuse to any official (Flagman, Scorer, Announcer, etc.) will not be tolerated.
  20. NO protest allowed.
  21. Official's decision will be final at all times.

Steet Stock Rules

Minimum weight 3200 lbs

  1. BODY - Any 1960 and newer American-made rear wheel drive passenger car allowed. No front wheel drive. NO convertibles, pickups, station wagons, sports models permitted. Minimum wheelbase of 101" measured on the shorter side. Body must be complete stock appearing STEEL unit with the exception of fiberglass / aluminium hood or trunk lid if it waw O.E.M. when made. No aftermarket body parts of fiberglass or aluminum. NO altering, shortening, channeling or chopping of the body permitted. NO spoilers, air dams, or ground effects. Stock bumpers are mandatory and should be strapped to the body. Stock firewalls and full floorboard required inside of the body. Driver's area will have complete and sealed firewalls between the engine and trunk area. Inner front fender wells may be removed. All of the trun area floor may also be removed. Doors must be welded or bolted securely shut. Hoods will be run at all times except when damaged. All glass must be removed except for the front windshield. Windshield must be strapped in two places. Metal screen of 1/4" mesh or larger allowed and must cover entire windshield area. Front and rear tow chain loop required.
  2. FRAMES - AMERICAN MADE STOCK STEEL FRAME ONLY. Frame must be GM to GM, Ford to Ford, etc. NO aftermarket frames permitted. Unibody frames may be connected at each end with a minimum 2"x3" .120 wall tubing.
  3. WHEELS - Steel wheels ONLY - NO width limit - NO beadlocks - Reinforced or racing wheels are recommended. NO bleeder valves allowed.
  4. TIRES - SLICKS ONLY - Maximum 11" wide contact surface. NO grooving, siping or altering of tire.
  5. SUSPENSION - O.E.M. STEEL leaf springs, torsion bars and coil springs ONLY. Mounting and locaiton must remain stock on frame. Weight jack bolts and adjustable shackles permitted. NO coil over eliminators, air shocks, torque arms, fifth arms or aluminum shocks. NO independent rear axles. NO rack and pinion steering. Steering box must be in stock location and may be quickened. Any steel shock mounted in any position permitted. Sway bars / panhard bars allowed but must be O.E.M. Components. All suspension components will remain unaltered and stock with the exception of modifying for shock mounting or weight jacks
  6. REAR END - Any stock rear end allowed but must be in stock location and use stock mountings for the frame. NO truck or quick change rear ends. Rear ends may be locked. NO truck trailing arms.
  7. DRIVELINE - Driveshafts must be painted white. Driveline must be strapped or chained at both ends for safety. NO aluminum drivelines.
  8. ROLL BARS - Must be six point STEEL cage type with a minimum tubing of .090 wall by 1.25" O.D. Cage must be welded to main frame with gusset at all six points. Cage on unibody frame will have six (6) minimum 4" square plates 3/16" thick welded to cage and bolted with four (4) 3/8" bolts to floor. Driver's side of cage will have at least three (3) door bars and a minimum of two (2) door bars on passenger side. Cage must be braced from side to side. Gussets recommended at all joints. Roll cage is subject to inspection for construction and workmanship at any time. Padding of roll cage in driver's area is mandatory.
  9. SEAT - Racing or bucket type seat is mandatory. Seat must be mounted to the roll cage or main frame. Headrest is recommended. Subject to inspection.
  10. BRAKES - O.E.M. brake components ONLY. Brakes must be on all four wheels and be able to stop all wheels. NO aftermarket brakes or hubs - minimum of 1/2" diameter wheel studs mandatory. O.E.M. disc brakes may replace O.E.M. drum brakes but must remain same make. Any proportioning valves allowed.
  11. TRANSMISSIONS - Any O.E.M. production transmission with at least forward and reverse gears. Automatic transmissions are allowed but must have a working torque converter. Manual transmission must use a stock type clutch disk and pressure plate assembly with a minimum 10" O.D. clutch disk. NO multiple disk or ram type clutch. Approved steel scatter shield / bellhousing or blanket mandatory.
  12. FUEL TANK - Approved steel tanks only. Fuel cells recommended - tank must be mounted to frame in trunk area and must be protected on all sides and bottom. Subject to inpsection. Fuel tank area must be completely sealed from driver compartment.
  13. FUEL - Pump or racing gas only. No methanol, nitrous oxide, nitromethane permitted. NO electric fule pumps. Any fuel lines in the driver's compartment must be fully enclosed in metal.
  14. ENGINE - NO cubic inch limit. NO overhead camshafts - O.E.M. production cast iron steel block, heads and manifold ONLY. Stock cast iron two-barrel intake manifold ONLY. No porting or polishing of intake / exhaust manifold or cylinder heads. Stock cast iron exhaust manifolds ONLY. NO HEADERS. Maximum of one (1) 2-barrel carburetor of production type Holley replacemnt carburetor okay. Maximum of 1" thick spacer block permitted between carb and intake manifold. NO Vortec cylinder or intake GM components. Air cleaner is required. NO roller camshafts, roller lifers or gear drives. Hydraulic or flat tappet camshaft only. NO aluminum or steel billet rocker arms. Stamped Steel or cast roller arms permitted. Oil pan and capacity may be modified but must be make to make such as Ford to Ford, GM to GM, etc. All cars must run mufflers at all times and not exceed 95 dB @ 100ft. Exhaust must exit behind the driver. Engine location to be centered between main frame and in stock location.
  15. SEAT BELTS - Must be a quick release racing 5-point system. Lap belts must be 3" minimum. Sholder belts must be 2" minimum with a 2" submarine belt. Belt system mounting must be attached to the cage or frame with grade 5 bolts or better. Subject to inspection. Window net is required on driver's side.
  16. HELMET - MUST BE WORN AT ALL TIME ON THE TRACK. Helmet must meet Snell standards and be in good condition.
  17. SUIT - Fire suits of flame-retartant material must be worn by the driver. Nomex suits recommended. Gloves, shoes and underwear of fire resistant material are recommended to be worn while driving.
  18. SAFETY - One working 2.5 lb fre extinguisher must be mounted within reach of the driver. NO oil coolers in driver's compartment. Battery must be securely mounted and covered in driver's area. Any ballast weight must be bolted with 1/2" bolts and be painted white with car number on it.
  19. NO RADIO COMMUNICATION EQUIPMENT PERMITTED.
  20. NO REAR OR SIDEVIEW MIRRORS.

(These rules are subject to change when deemed necessary in order to restore equal racing at all times.)

BOMBER RULES

THIS IS A NO CONTACT DIVISION

  1. BODY - 1960 and newer American made steel passenger cars ONLY. NO front wheel drive. NO trucks or convertibles. Appearance must be completely stock an unaltered. Stock bumper mandatory and may be welded directly to frame. Bumper must be strapped to fender or modified to prevent hooking. Hoods must be run at all times unless damaged. Hoods must be securely mounted by chains or bolts. Welded trunk lids will have a 12" inspection hole in center. All doors must be welded closed. All breakable plastic, glass and chrome trim must be removed from body. All flammable material inside car must be removed. A full windshield or screen must be in place and all other glass to be removed. Complete full firewall and floorboard required. Body appearance must be kept in good condiditon with large contrasting numbers on each door. Car numbers will be a minimum of 24" in height and in a contrasting color on each door and top of roof facing forward. Front and Rear tow chain loop madatory.
  2. WHEELS - STEEL wheels only. NO aluminium, magnesium or plastic wheels. Reinforced right front wheel mandatory. All lug nut and wheel studs must be used.
  3. TIRES - Any D.O.T. unaltered passenger car treaded tire allowed. NO mud grip, heavy lug tread patterns. Manimum tire tread width will be no more than 8" wide. NO Hoosier, McCreary, Goodyear or Recap tires. NO grooving, siping, or softening of tire.
  4. FRAME - Must be a totally stock unaltered O.E.M. frame for body used. Only bracing allowed will be from roll cage area to frame and radiator protection at front of frame, inside of the body.
  5. SUSPENSION - Front and rear suspension must remain STOCK. Rear end may be locked. NO interchanging of rear axle units allowed. Adjustable rear shackles / heavy duty O.E.M. rear coil sprints permitted.
  6. FUEL - Tank must be of all steel - NO O.E.M. TANKS ALLOWED. Tanks must be mounted, strapped, and secure in trunk area. ONLY Pump or racing gasoline allowed, subject to inspection. Fuel tank area must be completely sealed from driver's area.
  7. ENGINE - Engine will remain externally stock with NO modifications. Complete engine, transmission and driveline will remain stock for model being used. NO interchange of makes allowed. Driveline must be painted white and strapped at front U-joint area. Mufflers must be run at all times and meet 95 dB limit at 100ft. NOVortec engine components on GM engines.
  8. ROLL CAGE - Must have a six (6) point mounting of steel tubing 1.75" x .090 OD. with gussets at main frame mounting or six (6) 4"x4" steel plates by 3/16" thick bolted thru floor with four (4) 3/8" bolts on each plate, three (3) door bars on driver's side and two (2) bars on passenger side. Driver's area of roll cage must be padded. Gussets on all welded joints.
  9. SAFTEY - Seat must be in stock location and attached to roll cage. Racing or bucket sear recommended. A 4-point racing quick release harness is mandatory. Mounting of belts must be thru floor or to roll cage - Subject to inspection. An approved helmet, Snell approved, must be worn at all times on track. Driving suit, flame retardant, is recommended or a long sleeve shirt or jacket is required when driving. Battery must be securely mounted and covered if inside of driver's area.
  10. No mirrors or radios.

Cascade Hardtop Rules

  1. Body:< 1928 thru 1948 steel American-made passenger car sedan or coupe type only. No pick-ups or convertibles. Bodies must be completely stock. No chopping, shortening, or altering. All flammable material, glass, and hardware must be removed. All window openings must remain stock except rear window which may be enlarged a maximum of 6 inches all around opening. Rear of body may be shortened or bobbed to the last rear cross member. Doors must be welded or bolted shot. Stock cowl must remain on body except for trimming. Hood mandatory and must be stock appearing for body used. Hood can be aluminum, steel, or fiberglass replacement. Bodies will have a 60” minimum height measured from ground to top of body. NO portion of the body may be lower than the bottom of the frame main rails.
  2. Weight: All 6-cyl. And Flathead V-8 cars will weigh a minimum of 2100 pounds. All overhead valve V-8 cars will weigh a minimum of 2200 pounds
  3. Floorboards: Car will have complete floorboard from firewall to behind driver’s seat and from side to side of main frame rails. May be aluminum or steel.
  4. Fenderwells: Front fenders and fenderwells may be removed. Rear fenders may be removed.
  5. Frame: Stock steel frame only. Must have a complete X-type cross member. Frame may be boxed for reinforcement. Frame may be V’d outside of cage area. All cross members must be replaced with steel tubing, channel iron, or pipe. NO replacement tubing used in main side rails between center of front axle and center of rear axle, except when needed for mounting of nerfs, cage, body, or springs.
  6. Roll Bars: 1.5” o.d. x .095 minimum steel tubing or 1.25” x .120 steel pipe full cage mandatory. Cage must be welded to main frame in 6 places, plus gussets must be used. Minimum 3 sidebars on left and 2 sidebars on right connecting to front and rear cage uprights. Cage must be braced to rear and cross-braced to each side.
  7. Front axle: Must be straight steel OEM from a passenger car or truck. NO after market tube axles or twin I-beam axles. NO independent front ends allowed. Front billet or safety hubs recommended. Stock spindles OK.
  8. Rear End: Any rear end permitted except the following: NO open lives axles or independent rear end. Rear end may be locked or unlocked. Safety hubs recommended.
  9. Suspension: Steel leaf springs only are allowed. Mounting must be transverse (cross) or parallel only. Adjustable shackles and weight jacks OK. Sway bars allowed, but must be OEM type. NO after-market sway bars, no torque arms, coil overs, torsion bars, spring rod and biscuit, coil over eliminator, or fifth arm suspension permitted.
  10. Shocks: Steel shocks only. Minimum of 1 shock per wheel mounted in any position. Racing shocks permitted but cannot be adjustable. NO driver operated adjustable shocks or weight adjusting devices allowed.
  11. Steering: Any truck or passenger car steering box permitted, except NO rack and pinion. Only OEM power steering boxes and pumps are permitted. Steering may be quickened or a steering quickener added. Steering wheel and seat may be moved to center of car. Racing steering wheels and quick release hubs recommended.
  12. Brakes: All cars must have adequate brakes on at least 3 wheels at all times. Any type brake system allowed. Disc brake calipers must be steel.
  13. Transmission: Any OEM transmission allowed. Must have one forward and one reverse gear in working order. Automatic transmissions with any converter allowed. NO in and out boxes or quick change boxes.
  14. Clutch: Single disc only. 10” minimum o.d. clutch pressure plate assembly. No direct drive, multiple disc, dog or Ram type friction clutches allowed.
  15. Wheels: Any width steel wheel allowed. Racing wheels are recommended. NO aluminum, magnesium, plastic, or carbon fiber wheels allowed. NO bead locks.
  16. Tires: Any DOT tire with a minimum hardness of 50. Any recap tires on a DOT casing. Maximum tread width is 8” except RIGHT REAR which will have a maximum tread width of 10”. Tires may be grooved. McCreary, Hoosier, Goodyear, American Racer MUST have a DOT stamping and fit within tire width gauge. NO exceptions.
  17. Wheelbase: Must be within 2” of stock wheelbase for year of body used. No car will be permitted with less than the minimum of 105” measured on the shortest side at any time, unless it was caused by an incident on that race date.
  18. Fuel Tank: Must be located in rear area of body. Must be in an area sealed off from the driver. Must have vent valve for safety in case of rollover. Fuel cells recommended.
  19. Fuel: Pump gas or racing gas ONLY. NO alcohol, nitro, or nitrous oxide.
  20. Radiator: Any radiator may be used; overflow tank recommended. Must be in front of engine.
  21. Drive shaft: must be painted white and have a safety strap at front of shaft.
  22. Battery: Must be securely mounted and sealed (covered).
  23. Flywheel: May be aluminum or lightened but must have a starter ring gear. ALL cars must be self-starting with starter in good working order.
  24. Scatter shield: Shield must be a minimum of 3/16”x4” steel, 180 over bellhousing area, and be mounted to frame. Or use an approved scattershield bellhousing such as C.A.E., Lakewood, etc. Belting of not less than Ό” thick may be used.
  25. Engine: Any American or Canadian OEM gas engine permitted except V-6 and overhead camshaft engines. The following limitations and rules apply:
    1. 6-cylinder overhead valve and Flathead (V-8 or 6-cyl) engines have no cubic inch limits or restrictions except B below.
    2. NO fuel injection, blowers, or superchargers on any engines.
    3. 8-cylinder overhead valve engine: 360 maximum cubic inches, stock stroke, stock crankshaft, stock rods, stock bore with a maximum .060 overbore for clean up, steel heads with no porting or polishing, steel OEM block.
      1. NO internal modifications except for cam, oil pump, timing chain, and pistons.
      2. Camshaft: Hydraulic or flat tappet with .560 maximum lift, no roller cams.
      3. Oil pump: Hi-performance replacement allowed, no dry sump systems.
      4. Timing chain: Stock or true roller chain only, no gear drive or belt systems.
      5. Pistons: Flat top only, cast or forged pistons permitted.
      6. Oil pan: May be baffled or capacity increased.
      7. Manifold: Any single 2 or 4 barrel, cast iron or aluminum intake allowed. NO tunnel ram type manifold permitted.
      8. Carburetor: Must be a Holly 2 barrel #4412 with a maximum 1” thick adapter plate.
      9. Ignition: Stock with internal modifications OK. No magnetos.
      10. Roller rocker arms allowed.
      11. Headers allowed. No 180 systems allowed.
      12. Fuel pump: Any pump OK, but must be mounted in original location.
      13. No Vortec cylinder heads or manifolds.
  26. Engine set back: All engines will be allowed no more than an 8” set back from center of front axle to front of vibration damper.
  27. Muffler: All cars must run mufflers at all times and must be 95dB or less at 100’.
  28. Nerf bars: Must have side nerfs on all sides of body with NO sharp or jagged edges and securely fastened. Front nerf should be rounded. Rear nerf should be wide enough to cover 75% of rear tires.
  29. Seat: Aluminum seat only. No fiberglass or plastic seats. Seat mounting must have (4) 3/8” bolts minimum, 2 bolts on the bottom and 2 bolts on the seat back near top area with large washers on each. High back or headrest recommended.
  30. Appearance: Cars must be attractively painted with large numbers in contrasting color. Numbers must be at least 24” high on each side and deck lid of car. No primer painted cars permitted.
  31. NO radio communications to driver is allowed.
